Events and Reminders
As the New Year is now upon us I would like to remind you of some information and dates for your shiny new calendars!
As we go through the year, dates are changing so please make sure that you check the calendar on the website at regular intervals. We are constantly being approached to take part in other projects and want to offer our members the best opportunities possible.
REHEARSALS START THIS WEEK! Please can you bring all of your music so that we can collect in what you no longer need and issue you with pieces for this term. Please remember that all pencil markings need to be rubbed out and music must be in good condition, else you will be charged. Please arrive early to allow time for this.
Beaulieu Abbey Concert – YOUTH/CHAMBER CHOIR - Saturday 21 January 2017
Final arrangements are still being made and will follow asap. There will be a rehearsal for members prior to the concert from 4pm with the evening starting at 7pm and a reception from 6.30pm. This is a free event as part of the Chairman’s Year of Music. Tickets are not required. There will be a retiring collection for Cancer Research.
Turning Points Concert – TRAINING CHOIR – Saturday 4 February 2017
We have been asked to take part in a composition by David Owen Norris (BBC Radio 3) alongside the Wayneflete Singers and Youth Orchestra at Winchester Cathedral. There will be a rehearsal during the day at 1.30pm until 4pm, with the concert at 7pm. We will also have the pleasure of him attending an evening rehearsal with us to work on the pieces. Families of performing children will be able to buy tickets at a concessionary rate of 50% of the ticket price. The password will expire after 18 January 2017, so do ensure you book your tickets promptly.
Ken Burton Workshop - Friday 10 February 2017
Ken Burton is a British choral and orchestral conductor, composer, performer, presenter, arranger and judge, known for his work on UK television programmes. He will be attending rehearsals for all choirs on this date.
Carmina Burana – Workshop Day Thornden Hall, Chandlers Ford – JUNIOR/YOUTH CHOIR – Sunday 5 March 2017
This will be an all-day rehearsal alongside the orchestra and Jonathan Wilcocks. Youth Choir will be required from 10.45am – 4pm and Junior Choir will be needed from 1.45pm – 3.15pm. Final arrangements will be sent nearer the time.
