Welcome to a new year!

Dear Parents and Members,

We hope you all had a wonderful summer and the first few days back to school haven't been too stressful. We want to welcome you to the new academic year, which is full of exciting musical collaborations and events.

Rehearsals start Friday 14 September at The United Church in Jewry Street as normal. All choirs will meet at the same time as they did previously, Junior and Training at 4.30pm, Show at 6pm, Youth at 7.30pm and Chamber at 9pm.

If you are unable to attend a rehearsal for any reason, we’d appreciate it if you could let us know as soon as you can. We understand that diaries get very busy, but if you are aware of any potential clashes with school activities throughout the year, please do let us know as early as possible. Hampshire County Youth Choirs - absence register academic year 2018-19

Please also refer to our expectations and commitment for membership. There have been a few small changes, so please ensure that you are familiar with it. As a member of HCYC you are agreeing to these expectations.

HCYC Workshop and Open Day – Sunday 30 September 2018, The Mountbatten School, Whitenap Lane, Romsey SO51 5SY

Once again we are offering a workshop day and the chance for you to bring along a friend. Please confirm if you will be attending via the google form (link below). You can also share this link with any friends you would like to bring. Please do share the attached flyer.

Hampshire County Youth Choirs Open Day - 30 Sep 2018

Arrival for Training and Youth will be at 10am for 10.30am start, and Junior will be at 11am for 11.30am start. We will have a small showing at 3.30pm and aim to finish by 4pm. More details of the day will follow in due course.

Between 4pm and 6pm we will audition any members who would like to move up to the next choir, as well as those members who joined us part way through last year and we are yet to hear. We will contact you directly and provide more information in rehearsals. Please note that this is an opportunity for us to hear you and what you are capable of, rather than a "test" as such. Please continue attending your current choir until auditions have taken place.

Chamber Choir 2018/19

Any members of Youth Choir who were not members of Chamber Choir last year and would like to audition can do so either on Friday 14 September at 9pm, or by special arrangement later in the month. Please come prepared with a suitable piece of your choice (with the piano part!), and ready for some sight-reading and aural tests. Andy will give you further information on the day.

For those who WERE a member last year, rehearsals will start the following week on 21 September.

Those who are successful in audition will be informed and asked to attend rehearsals once all auditions have been completed.

Residential trip to PGL Liddington, 8-10 February 2019

We have booked our residential for this year at PGL Liddington. Further details will be sent out shortly, so please keep an eye out for it.

Update to contact details, including change of school

Please do keep us informed of any change in your contact details, especially address / telephone contacts. If your son/daughter is moving to a new school this academic year, please reply to this email with details so we can update our records. This is especially important when we are applying for any permission for absence.
